West Virginia University Theatre & Dance is excited to return to this year’s FREDDY© Awards! The award presented will provide a scholarship from WVU and the School of Theatre Dance equivalent to the cost of university tuition. The award is renewable over 8 semesters of study. Students interested in enrolling in WVU School of Theatre and Dance in the Fall of 2020 as Musical Theatre or Design & Technology majors are encouraged to apply and submit audition video/videos by May 10th for consideration. Muhlenberg College – The Muhlenberg College Scholarship consists of $5,000 Annual Scholarship to the Department of Theatre & Dance, renewable for three years, to a student attending a school which participates in the 2019 FREDDY© Awards program who has been accepted by and decides to attend Muhlenberg College. Northampton Community College – State Theatre FREDDY© Awards Scholarship consists of a $1,000/Year Scholarship for NCC’s 2019-2020 academic year. Students applying for the 2019 NCC/Freddy Awards Scholarship DO NOT have to be Theatre Majors BUT they must plan to enroll at NCC for the Fall 2019 semester, and be registered for 6 or more credit hours. East Stroudsburg University – The East Stroudsburg University Theatre Department/State Theatre FREDDY© Awards Scholarship consists of TWO $1000/Year Scholarships for ESU’s 2019-2020 academic year. DeSales University – $5000 scholarship opportunities (renewable for 3 years for a total of $20,000) will be offered to the recipients of: Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. Recipients need not be seniors, scholarships will be held for all recipients that apply for and are accepted to DeSales University in the theatre major provided they matriculate as a full time traditional undergraduate student in the fall following high school graduation.
JUST BORN Education / Community Impact Award is awarded to the school that best connects its musical production to other areas of academic study OR to a community project or event. Please be specific regarding teaching methods, plans for involving the broader school or community and the anticipated or actual outcome of these efforts. Includes a $1,500 Cash Award to the School. Pennsylvania Youth Ballet/Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley – Three week scholarships to the Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Dance Intensive are available to all nominees for the FREDDY© Award for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Dancer. Nominees may choose three weeks out of the six week program that best fits their schedule. Nominees will receive a certificate after nominations are announced with further details.
Sing for America – The 2019 SFA Art Of Light Freddy Scholarship will recognize one exemplary student who has used his or her art for good with a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for use towards continuing education or personal project outlined in their essay. Lehighvalleylive.com and The Express-Times Student Achievement Award – As sponsors of the 2019 FREDDY© Awards, Lehighvalleylive.com & The Express-Times will offer a $1,500 scholarship to the recipient of the 2019 Student Achievement Award, which is announced at the FREDDY© Awards Ceremony. This is a self-nominating scholarship, and is available to students who participate in their school’s musical theater program in a backstage capacity, such as a stage manager, stage crew, scenic design, student/assistant directors and choreographers Student nominees must complete the 2019 Student Achievement Award Self-Nomination Form. Richard Knauss Foundation – $1000 in Cash Awards will be awarded – $500 cash award to the school that is awarded the 2019 FREDDY© for Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical and $500 cash award to the school that is awarded the 2019 FREDDY© for Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School.
Arts Community of Easton Performing Arts Scholarship – In recognizing the value of an Arts Education in the community, the Arts Community of Easton, or ACE, is pleased to announce the availability of two $500 scholarships for secondary students: One to be awarded in the area of Performing/Musical Arts and One to be awarded in the are of Fine Arts. Eligible applicants must be from the Lehigh Valley/Phillipsburg Area. Additionally, there will be one $1000 collegiate scholarship for students living the Greater Lehigh Valley and pursuing a degree in the arts. Download the Application. Civic Theatre Outstanding Student Director Award and Internship – The Civic Theatre Outstanding Student Director Award and Internship will be awarded to a student director who has an interest in a directing career or avocation and has shown not only aptitude but enthusiasm for the art of directing or choreography. Teachers can nominate student directors and/or choreographers who would be interested in working as assistant director and/or choreographer on a production at Civic Theatre of Allentown.
